It does seem like a very supportive and comprehensive program. I am deciding between this program or LNC Stat. Have you heard anything about this program? Sign In Register Now! Search Search.

This program is also available as a self-paced, online program that gives students up to six months to complete.

This may be a good fit for busy working professionals or students located outside of the area. Online students must also have current nursing registration in order to apply. The program includes 24 credits covering legal research, writing, and ethics and prepares students for a diverse range of career paths and possible employment opportunities. Both programs are very flexible and can accommodate full-time and part-time students and offer online and evening courses, although at least 10 credits must be completed on-campus.

The program also includes a mentorship component that matches students with practicing legal nursing consultants to gain practical experience. Applicants must have a degree in nursing and at least three years of work experience is recommended.

All courses in the curriculum are offered through distance learning, with one residential institute of up to two days required on the Fort Lauderdale campus for program completion. A culminating practicum, during which students earn five credit hours, encourages students to apply their knowledge through the design of interventions for underserved and non-traditional populations under the supervision of a faculty advisor.

Students who graduate from this interdisciplinary post-professional program are prepared to apply their knowledge of the legal aspects of healthcare and pursue careers at the intersections of healthcare and law. A Certificate of Completion worth 4. The coursework is delivered fully online, and course topics covered include ethics, standards of care, medical malpractice, licensure, criminal law, complex litigation, and the role of the LNC in the litigation process.

This eight-week course will introduce the participant to the basic concepts of Legal Nurse Consulting, including terminology common to litigation, the role the nurse consultant might perform in a variety of settings, report writing and documentation, participation in trials and hearings, and performing legal research.

Additional discussion will focus on the basic information useful for starting a practice as an independent consultant or working for an established business. Participants will secure an interview with a legal professional LNC, attorney, risk manager, adjuster, etc. Participants will also research a legal issue using the guidelines provided and present the issue and facts by PowerPoint presentation posted to the course site.

Legal Nurse Consultant Certified LNCC exam is a discretionary test separate from this course that experienced registered nurses graduating from this class may decide to sit for. LNCC test eligibility requirements are discussed during this training course; however, RNs graduating from this course need not take the LNCC in order to practice as legal nurse consultants.

All lectures are available on-demand for maximum convenience. The course instructor will also host three 3 live meetings online throughout the semester as an opportunity for students to check in and talk through questions as a group.

If time zone constraints make it difficult to attend the group sessions, the course instructor will work with those students to arrange one-on-one web meetings as needed. This program is open to Registered Nurses who have completed at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience. Prospective students must complete an application form and submit it along with a copy of RN license and proof of three years of clinical nursing experience.

We will confirm receipt of your application package and, once reviewed, inform you via email of our decision. You may Register and begin at any time. It is strongly suggested if you are new to LNC that you begin with Module 1 and complete all 10 Modules in order.

Individual module objectives will be met with successful completion of assignments and evaluation. Course Faculty will provide written feedback to students for module evaluation assignments. Preceptorship: Upon completion of Module 10, students are invited to participate in a two day preceptorship.
